Robert "Roy" Reuter, 85 years old, passed away peacefully in Lakeland, Fla., on Dec. 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 12, 1940, in Peoria, Ill., to parents Robert Henry Reuter and Mary Elisibeth Reuter.
Roy found his lifelong companion in Caroline Story, whom he married on Aug. 19, 1963. Together, they navigated the journey of life, supporting each other through thick and thin, creating a love that withstood the test of time.
Roy dedicated 33 years of his life to USF Holland Motors, where he worked diligently until his well-earned retirement. A man of integrity, he believed that honesty was the most important quality for success, a principle that guided him both professionally and personally.
An active member of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Roy lived his faith through kindness, generosity and compassion. After retiring, he and Caroline relocated to Lakeland, Fla., where they enjoyed their golden years together.
Roy proudly served in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, demonstrating his commitment to duty and service to his country. His sacrifices and contributions during his time in the Navy will always be remembered and appreciated.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline, and their three children: Terri (Mike) Manning, Kelly (Jim) Wells, and Kevin Reuter. Robert's legacy extends to his siblings, William (Jerry) Reuter and Norma Jean Reuter Wright, as well as numerous friends who will cherish the memories they shared.
Roy was preceded in death by his K-9 companion, Marley, of 17 years.
A private service will be held for immediate family to celebrate Roy's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Lutheran Church in his honor. Those wishing to sign Roy's memory book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
May Robert "Roy" Reuter rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved him.
