Robert Mack Richards

Robert Mack "Bobby" Richards, 73, passed away on July 4, 2025 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Memphis with Jim Dixon and Anthony Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9th from 9 AM - 6 PM with family receiving friends for visitation from 4 - 6 PM.
Bobby was born January 11, 1952, in Groom, Texas, to Mack and Patricia Anne Richards. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1970. He went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1972. During his service, Bobby was stationed in Germany and Vietnam, where he served his country with honor.
After his time in the military, Bobby returned to Texas and worked on the family farm. He later pursued careers with GTE Telephone Company and as a radio DJ. Bobby was known for his quick wit and infectious laugh-he could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke. Over the years, Bobby lived in Corpus Christi and eventually made his home in Amarillo at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, where he formed many close friendships.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Anne Richards; his sister, Susan Richards; his grandparents, Louis and Rushia Richards, Gilbert Richardson, and Ruby Bickley; and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his son, David Richards and wife Jacquelynn of Amarillo; grandsons, Jaxson David Richards and Christian Goff-Richards; granddaughter, Isabella Richards, all of Amarillo; his brother, David Richards and wife Kiesha of Childress; nieces and nephews: Casey Gonzalez and husband Raul of Memphis, Cody Bell and her children Austin, Madison, and Brynley, Allie and Chase Rafe, and Mack Rutledge of Weatherford; Taylor Richards of Houston; Gaynor Gonzalez of Memphis; Levi Gonzalez of Prosper; and Mackewin Gonzalez of Abilene. He is also remembered fondly by his many friends and caregivers at Ussery-Roan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Ussery-Roan Veteran's Home in Amarillo.
