Robert "Bob" Richard Rickert, age 83, of Newaygo, passed away Sunday, peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born in Grand Rapids, Bob joined the United States Navy in 1956, serving in the Ninth Naval District. He worked as a construction electrician for many years, retiring in 1994.

After retirement, Bob opened an antique store and auction house in Grant, with his wife. Bob enjoyed having a beer with friends at the VFW, spending time with his children and grandchildren at his home on Brooks Lake, playing solitaire and doing word searches in his free time, and always reminiscing about old times with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, James & Grace (Olsen) Ricker; and brothers, James Rickert and David Rickert. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Sandra (Gole) Rickert; his sister, Nancy & Sherwin Broersma; his children, Robert Jr. & Linda Rickert, William Augustine, Michelle & Joseph Schmidt, Todd Rickert, Daniel & Rachael Rickert, Matthew & Cassie Rickert, Jacquelyn & Adam Overley, and Jonathan & Misty Rickert; his grandchildren, Amanda, Kirsten, Kyle, Courtney, Cooper, Charley, Kayleigh, Brittany, Bryan, Bianca, Brenden, Aubrey, Landyn, Taytum, and Breslyn; three great-grandchildren; his niece and nephews; brother and sisters-in law; and his furbabies, Oreo and Packer.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and his family plans to have a memorial service at the Newaygo VFW Post 4249 at a later date. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Bob's online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www.MichiganCremation.com
