Robert James Rider, 85, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026.
He was born on March 8, 1940, in Lumpkin County, GA, to Charles & Emma (Brookshire) Rider. He worked for the City of Gainesville, GA, for over 40 years and moved to Florida after retirement. He loved racecar driving and spent time at local racetracks. He was a NASCAR fan and loved playing his guitar.
He is survived by his children, Betty (Rider) and Donald Thompson, Robert and Kim Rider, and Philip Rider, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Jewell (Gaddis) Rider and son, James Luther Rider.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity in his honor.
