Robert M. Rivera of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Covenant Healthcare – Harrison, surrounded by his loving family after battling a lengthy illness. Robert was born to Rufino and Lilia (Velasquez) Rivera on September 25, 1960, in Saginaw, Michigan. On May 22, 1999, he married Mary J. Mosqueda at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw.
Robert worked for Consumers Energy for 19 years in the Forestry Department working on powerlines and tree trimming. Afterwards, he worked for Ryder Logistics for 14 years until his retirement due to his illness. Robert was a 1978 graduate of Buena Vista High School. He also served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, gathering for barbeques, playing cards, and watching sports. Robert will always be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor.
Surviving are his wife Mary J. Rivera; five children: Nadine (Ryan) Kenyon, Robert (Catherine) Rivera II, David (Veronica) Rivera, Marina Rivera, and Benito Rivera; eight grandchildren: Nadine (Julian) Chimal Rivera, Diego Rivera, Emilio Rivera, Aidan Kenyon, Nadia Kenyon, Ria Rivera, Vida Rivera, and Robert Rivera III; siblings: Debbie Vargas, Stella Johnson, and Rufino Rivera Jr; and two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Arturo Mosqueda, Marina (Alberto) Guerrero. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law, Felix and Gloria C. Mosqueda.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Robert will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
