On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Robert passed away peacefully at home. He was born at the Tri State Hospital in Shreveport, LA on September 3, 1958, to Margaret Parker and Albert Rives of Grand Cane, LA. Robert was very diligent about helping his parents while he was growing up.

In 1977, he graduated from Central High School in Grand Cane and attended LA Tech in Agricultural Studies. Robert met a lovely lady, Janet Jimes in September of 1995. They fell in love and were married in 1996. Robert and Janet celebrated 29 wonderful years of marriage. They had many wonderful adventures together; one of which was numerous trips to St. Croix for Janet’s birthday and Valentine’s Day. Every Friday was family day with Janet’s parents, Sonny and Patsy Jimes. They ate out and played dominos.

Roberts worked in the oil, cattle and agricultural industries. He was even a children’s book author about ‘Tuffy the Big Yellow Tractor.’

Of all his decisions in his life, the most important was believing in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Areas of his Christian service was deacon’s helper, ordained deacon, building committee member, and 2nd mile award for Christian service. He also went on numerous mission trips to Russia, Romania, Brazil, Hawaii, Canada, Lithuania and Alaska. Robert was involved with supporting Freedom Baptist Church and Queen Louise Children’s Home in St. Croix along with many more mission endeavors.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law; Sebastion “Sonny” Jimes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; sisters, Ginger McBride and Nanette Hoefly; brothers, Judson Rives and Mike Rives; mother-in-law, Patsy Jimes; and a host of very special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates everything Amedisys Hospice did for Robert on his journey to heaven, where he heard “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Salem Baptist Church in Stonewall. Dr. Mike Hawkins will officiate.
