Robert Rowley Obituary

Visit the Binkley Ross Family of Funeral Homes website to view the full obituary.

Robert Rowley passed away on January 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of stories, laughter, and unforgettable personality. Born on August 30, 1955, Robert lived life in a way that ensured no room was ever quiet for long.

An avid storyteller, Robert was famous for his baseball tales—especially those involving playing for both the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, occasionally in the same game, depending on the day the story was told. His stories were delivered with confidence, humor, and just enough mystery to keep everyone guessing.

Robert was deeply proud of his German and Native American heritage, carrying that pride into every aspect of his life. He was the proud father of 13 children, including an astonishing six sets of twins—a fact he shared with equal parts amazement and pride.

Professionally, Robert claimed an extensive career in obstetrics, speaking about it with authority and enthusiasm. In his downtime, he was a devoted lover of true crime television, never missing a twist or theory.

Robert was also a proud member of the Going Home Coalition, a cause that mattered deeply to him. He was a friend to many, someone people remembered long after conversations ended. He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Christi, who held a special place in his heart.

Graveside services will be held on February 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Herrin City Cemetery. A meal will follow afterward at Taft Group Home, where all dear friends are warmly invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Robert’s life.

Robert Rowley will be remembered for his stories, his spirit, and his ability to make life more interesting simply by being in it. He leaves behind laughter, legend, and a life well told.
