Robert Ruby Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lemley Chapel on Mar. 6, 2024.
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we bid farewell to Robert "Bob" Ruby, a beloved father, brother, and pillar of our community.
Bob, aged 67, peacefully transitioned to the next phase of his journey on Sunday, February 18, 2024, following a sudden cardiac arrest.
Born on August 14th, 1956, to Robert and Jeannie Ruby in Moses Lake, WA, Bob's life was characterized by warmth, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
Bob's journey through life was one marked by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to bettering the world around him. Bob's educational journey began at Whitworth University in Spokane, where he nurtured his love for chemistry, graduating with a bachelor's degree. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he furthered his studies at Willamette University in Oregon, where he earned a master's degree in business. Armed with a profound understanding of both science and business, Bob embarked on a remarkable journey that saw him establish multiple successful businesses later in life. His studies not only equipped him with the necessary knowledge but also instilled in him a strong work ethic and a keen sense of punctuality.
Despite his busy schedule, Bob was known for his lighthearted demeanor and quick wit, always ready with a joke to brighten the mood. His entrepreneurial ventures were not just about profit but were also driven by his sincere desire to make a positive impact in his community.
As a testament to his dedication to the community, Bob founded his own construction companies, leaving an indelible mark on neighborhoods across California and later in Washington. Bob's craftsmanship and generosity touched the lives of countless families, providing them with more than just houses, but havens of solace and security – his work became an integral part in the lives of many. Guided by the principles of honor and compassion instilled in him as a youth, Bob embodied the ethos of an Eagle Scout, living by the Scout Oath and Law and touching the lives of many with his unwavering goodness.
Bob's faith was not just a belief but a guiding force that led him to actively serve Salem Lutheran Church. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly, serving on the church council and actively participating in various ministries and outreach programs. Bob's commitment to his faith extended to his family, with both Alex and Nicky actively involved alongside him in church activities and community service projects.
Beyond the church walls, Bob's spirit of generosity knew no bounds. He generously volunteered his time and talents, not only within the church but also in the wider community. One of his passions was coaching and mentoring aspiring baseball players, instilling in them not just athletic skills but also important life lessons. Bob's selfless dedication left an enduring impact on the lives of those he touched, shaping them for years to come.
As Bob traversed the winding paths of life, his children-Stacey, Nicky, Alex, and TJ-accompanied him like beacons of light, filling his heart with boundless love and joy. Together with their mother, Lena Ruby, they embarked on countless journeys, each adventure weaving cherished memories into the fabric of their lives.
Bob is survived by his siblings, Edna Grey, Henry Ruby, and Esme Davis. Now, in the tranquil embrace of eternal peace, he is reunited with his beloved parents, Robert and Jeannie, whose love and guidance illuminated every step of his earthly journey.
As we come together to honor Bob's extraordinary life on March 10th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon (2529 N LaVenture Rd Mount Vernon WA 98273) let us take comfort in the wisdom of Scripture. As Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 reminds us, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die."
Although Bob has transitioned from our midst, his legacy of love and kindness will endure, continuing to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him. May we find solace in the assurance that in God's eyes, all are welcomed and embraced, regardless of earthly circumstance. May Bob's soul find eternal peace, and may his memory remain a cherished blessing to us all.
