Robert D. Ruhe (Bob), 69, of Dade City, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Tampa, FL with his beloved wife, Sheri of 38 years and daughter, Lauren at his side. Bob fought a courageous battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer) for the past 14 months.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sheri, his precious daughter Lauren, and his beloved grandsons, Aidan & Brody Ruhe whom he raised and loved as his sons for the past 5 years, in Dade City, FL. He is survived by his beloved son, Jeffrey Ruhe and grandchildren Benjamin, Shelby, Riley, & Jackson of Albuquerque, NM; his sister and brother-in-law Bonnie & Bobby Kesilewski of Wallingford, CT; his special cousin Joanie Mooney of Panama City, FL; and several other cousins, nephews, and nieces from CT.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Sarah Ruhe in 2020; his parents Robert and Barbara Ruhe; and his cherished German Shepherd, Roxie, whom we know is welcoming him at the Rainbow Bridge.
Bob was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 11, 1956. This was where he met the love of his life and soul mate, Sheri whom he married in 1987 in Santa Barbara, CA. Bob's family meant the world to him and he always talked about how lucky he was to have such a wonderful family. Bob & Sheri raised their children in Encinitas, CA where they lived for 25 years. Bob developed many treasured friends during that time. He had a passion for collecting exotic cars and Harley motorcycles. He enjoyed riding them throughout the hills and mountains of San Diego. He restored many vehicles as a hobby throughout his life. Bob looked forward to Saturday morning Cars & Coffee in Rancho Santa Fe.
Over the course of his career, Bob's accomplishments were many. He obtained a Juris Doctor from Taft Law School, an MBA from California Coast University, attended the Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School, obtained a U.S. Tax Court Professional License, and attended the U.S. Dept. of Justice FBI Citizens' Academy Program. As an attorney, Bob specialized in contract law and held various executive management positions with both private and public high tech firms most recently with ASEG, Inc. in San Diego, CA prior to his retirement. Bob worked hard and long hours and traveled extensively throughout his career to provide a wonderful life for his family. He was able to enjoy retirement for a couple of years in Dade City, FL until his diagnosis. Bob also developed many special friendships during his time in Florida. Throughout life, Bob was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Bob was very generous with his time and imparting his knowledge and experience to anyone that needed it. There wasn't anything that Bob couldn't fix or a situation he couldn't resolve. Bob was a man of deep faith and was larger than life. He will be deeply missed by all. We will cherish the many wonderful memories we have had together until we meet again.
There will be a funeral mass on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 32852 Rhode Island Avenue, San Antonio, FL. Anyone who would like to pay their respects to Bob or his family are welcome. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Robert "Bob", please visit our floral store.
