Robert Dale Runty, aged 73, passed away on July 26, 2024. He was a farmer, a Fire Captain at Coal City Fire Protection District and Paramedic at Coal City Emergency Squad. He leaves behind his loving wife Paula, to whom he was married for 54 years.
Robert is also survived by his children Jamie Thompson (Brian) and Connie Runty, siblings Joanne Schenck (Steve), Lori Supinie (Andy), Thomas Runty (Janet), Karen Jordan (Rich), and Rich Degrush (Mary Beth), grandchildren Katherine Runty, Ally Cruthis (Adam), Abby Hingson (Zach), Austin Benson (Kassidy), great grandchildren Samantha Runty, Alexis Pierce, Robert and Aiden Norman, Bellemy Cruthis, Aunt Barb Runty, in-laws Pat Smith, David Smith (Linda), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by parents Dale Runty and Mabel DeGrush, step father Ampheon DeGrush, son Robert Jr., grandparents Willard Runty (Clara), uncle Bob Runty (Barb), also in-laws Velma Smith (Buzzy), Jack Smith (Carol), Bette Cullums (Max), William Smith (Pat), and Velma Doty (Ron).
Robert enjoyed camping, ice fishing, hunting, bowling, NCAA basketball tourney, and fishing Lake Erie. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
