Robert F. Samluk, 82, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Kay Samluk, his son, Edward Joseph Samluk, his parents, William J. and Celia Kwiakowski Samlock, and his three brothers Paul, John, and William.
Robert was married to his wife, Mary Kay, for over 50 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family and a lifetime of cherished memories. His devotion to Mary Kay and his family was at the core of everything he did, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Christie and Michael Pletz, Robert Samluk II and Keila Peck, Joseph and Lisa Samluk, and Michelle Samluk and Kyle Hinsdale. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and their spouses: Ashley and Kelley Ponsoll, Corey and Lindsey Pletz, Emily and Nicolas Stefanov, Alexander Pletz and fiancée Mackenzie Wollan, Alexxis Biel, Joshua Samluk, Addisyn Biel, Karson Biel, Andrew Samluk, Kollin Biel, Owen Samluk, Brett Samluk, and Simona Samluk. Robert was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Shea and Sadie Ponsoll, and Baby Girl Stefanov.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Robert served from 1964 to 1966, and upon his return home, he began a long and successful career at General Electric. He worked there for over 30 years before retiring, always providing for his family with hard work and dedication.
In retirement, Robert devoted much of his time to his family, cherishing every moment spent with them. He enjoyed watching game shows, solving crossword puzzles, and taking care of his beloved dogs. His family was one of his greatest joys, and it was common for him to ask, "How are the roads?", "Is it busy out?", or "You want somethin'?" as he never wanted to miss an opportunity to provide for his loved ones. He was very expressive and loved to give his kids and grandkids a "thumbs up" or his infamous "I love you" sign. Robert was also a devout Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Parish for over 50 years. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him in everything he did and bringing him peace, especially in his final days.
Robert, or "Papa", adored his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and they brought him endless joy. His granddaughter, Lexxie, was especially devoted to him, providing around-the-clock care during his final days, ensuring he was comfortable and surrounded by love. Her endless compassion brought him peace in his last moments.
Robert's family takes comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his wife, Mary Kay, whom he missed dearly since her passing in July 2024. His love for her and for all his family members will never be forgotten, and his legacy of encouragement, kindness, and strength will live on in all of them.
