Robert J. Sawyer

Robert J. Sawyer aged 76, passed away November 26, 2024 following a three year battle with cancer. The families are eternally grateful for the care and administrative activities including multiple trips and stays at MD Anderson in Houston, provided by niece Buffie Singletary during the last three years of his life . The families are eternally grateful for the care and administrative activities including multiple trips and stays at MD Anderson in Houston, provided by niece Buffie Singletary during the last three years of his life Bob was born November 17, 1948 in the old family home on Chris Kennedy Rd. in Pearl River, La. He grew up in the 6th Ward attending Sixth Ward Jr. High and Slidell High School. Following high school, he joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Hector AR-7 rendering fleet repair services. Upon discharge from the Navy, Bob returned to the Pearl River area and his career as a pipefitter/plumber. His faith and love of music has kept him active in his churches until the past several weeks.

He is preceded in death by parents, Gibbs and Myrtle Moran, sister, Margaret Giardelli, brother, Michael Sawyer, former wife, Sue Gaines Sawyer and Mary Crowe Sawyer, son Randy Crowe, grandson, Little Danny Crowe & Tyler Crowe

Bob is survived by brother, Anthony and wife Carole Sawyer, Nephew, Nicholas Giardelli, nieces, Melissa and Nicole Giardelli, Nephew, Marck Sawyer, nieces, Kelli Sawyer Smith, Vicki Sawyer Manriquez, Shanna Sawyer, daughter, Marilyn McLemore and husband, Scott. Grands - Branden McLemore Chastity Sorrels, Randy Crowe, Chancy LaFontaine, Colby Crowe, Justin Crowe, Jacob Crowe, Aaron Crowe, Eli Crowe and Great Grandchildren, Landen, Madyleigh, Braylin, McKenzie, Maysen, Brix, Brooklyn, Laythen, Maverick, Breckyn, Myla, Presley, Memphis, Bryson and Honey.

He is also survived by a host of Grand Nieces and Nephews, Branden Sawyer, Lexxie Sawyer, Kole Earhart, Tyler Giardelli, Jena O'Berry, Jamie Craddock, Maggie Giardelli, and Step-Nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of D. T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 431, Pearl River, La. Visitation at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM

Interment to follow at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery, (located at the funeral home).
