Doris Hall Obituary

Visit the Bagnell & Son Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Doris Franciol Hall, born on March 26, 1928, in Abbeville, Louisiana, departed this world on February 19, 2026, in Mandeville, Louisiana. A devoted member of the Catholic Church, Doris lived a life enriched by her faith, family, and a spirit of adventure that inspired everyone around her.

Throughout her youth, Doris was an explorer at heart, often roller-skating through the nooks and crannies of her small hometown. Her thirst for knowledge and experience led her to graduate high school early at just 16, enrolling shortly after at Louisiana State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1947. It was during her time at LSU that she met her beloved husband, Stanley Eugene Hall, in an eventful double date that etched itself in memory despite its beginnings.

Doris was a passionate educator and nurtured a deep love for children, which led her to serve as a teaching assistant at JC Ellis in Metairie. Through her role, she positively impacted the lives of countless students, providing guidance and inspiration to young minds.

As a mother to five children, Doris's love and dedication extended into her family life. She embarked on numerous travels around the world with Stanley, relishing moments spent in beautiful destinations like Iceland and creating cherished memories while building sandcastles with her grandchildren on sun-kissed beaches.

Known affectionately as the "Walking Lady" in Pearl River, Doris embraced her community by walking miles along the main road, often stopping to chat with neighbors and friends, enhancing the sense of togetherness that characterized her life.

Her unwavering Catholic faith remained a cornerstone throughout her journey. Doris instilled values of faith and devotion in her children and grandchildren, regularly bringing them to mass and visiting majestic churches and cathedrals globally. She was an active member of her church—singing in the choir, making cookies for the St. Joseph’s altar, and lovingly overseeing the collection plate at services.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Eugene Hall, her parents Charles Franciol and Matilda Vallee,, her son Stephen Hall, grandson William Cooper Hall and her siblings, Charles Franciol and Betty Pastor.

She leaves behind her loving children: Linda Beauvais (Hewitt), Dr. Stanley M. Hall Maria Piazza-Hall), Janet Lind (Jeff Lantz), Dr. Patricia Peffer (Charles Buckley), her 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Hall.

As we remember Doris Franciol Hall, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a trailblazer, an educator, a traveler, and a devoted mother and grandmother. Her legacy of love, faith, and adventure will continue to inspire those who knew her. A Mass will be held in her honor on February 25, 2026, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, Louisiana, commencing at 12:30 PM.
