Robert Schexnayder Jr.

Robert Charlie Schexnayder Jr., affectionately known to some as "Shake-N-Bake", was born June 5, 1962, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Robert Charlie Schexnayder Sr. and Ruby Lockett Frank. A life long resident of Lake Charles, he was a member of Christian Baptist Church and a 1980 graduate of Lake Charles High School where he played football. He began his career with the Lake Charles Police Department September 7, 1982, and retired after thirty-two years of service May 14, 2014. His favorite football teams were the San Francisco 49'ers and the LSU Tigers. Mr. Schexnayder entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of forty-two years, Stephanie Savoy Schexnayder; one son, Stephen (Lakeisha) Schexnayder Sr.; sisters, Sharon Schexnayder (Howard) Dunbar, Winnifred Schexnayder (Raymond) Villery, Diana Carter, Alfreida (James) Bell, Isabel Briscoe, and Rochelle Green; brothers, Elmo (Sarah), Michael, Curtis, Oscar (Altha), Robbie, and Bobbie (Sandra) Green; seven grandchildren, Delisha Castille, Saniya Schexnayder, Stephen Schexnayder Jr., MaKenzie L. Schexnayder, Ja'Maire Cormier, Chanti Joseph, and Amelia Joseph; sisters-in-law, Claudia and Shawndell Savoy; brothers-in-law, Patrick and Stanley Savoy, and Cornell Chenier; aunts and uncles, Shirley Labbe, Faye, Clarence, and Kenneth Lockett, Catherine Titsworth, Barbara Jane (Eddie) Henson, Loymon (Mary Louise) Batiste, Raymond (Irma Jean) Batiste, and Alvin (Linda) Batiste; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Schexnayder III; parents, Robert (Mary June) Schexnayder Sr., and Ruby Lockett (Willie Lee) Frank; sisters, Marguerite and Karen Schexnayder; brothers, Henry Green Jr. and Victor Green; grandparents, Raphiel and Elizabeth Brooks Schexnayder, Leroy and Sarah Lockett, Christopher Frank, and Mary Ware. His visitation will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 9AM with his funeral following at 11AM, at Christian Baptist Church located at 202 Franklin Street in Lake Charles. Pastor Edward Alexander Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.
