Swedberg Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. - GreshamRobert Edward Schiebenes Jr., formerly of De Pere, age 79, passed away on Wednesday March 4, 2026, in Shawano surrounded by his family. Robert was born on September 30, 1946, in Wauwatosa to the late Robert E. Sr. and Dorothy C. (Feyrer) Schiebenes. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Infantry Specialist 4th Class from 1968 until 1970. During his time, Robert was awarded Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge. In 1976, Robert was united in marriage to Patricia Bywater in Milwaukee. Together the couple spent a wonderful 27 years together before Patricia’s passing in 2003. He lived in Milwaukee his whole life before moving the family to the Bonduel and Shawano area in 1981 then moving to the De Pere and Suamico area in 1999. Robert worked as a mechanic for Proctor and Gamble until retirement in 2004. He enjoyed camping, occasionally fishing and was a member of the Shawano Masons. Robert was extremely involved in the Shawano VFW and Green Bay Veteran organizations. He always looked forward to breakfast with his Veteran friends group.
Robert is survived by his children, Lisa (Chris) Selle, Michele (Scott) Kunschke and Robert E. (Lisa Scott) Schiebenes III.; grandchildren, Kayla (Cody) Lindal, Cayman (Katherine) Kunschke, Tatiana (Trenton Keplin) Kunschke, Riley (Chloe Smith) Beyersdorf, Payton (Mason Zschaechner) Schiebenes and Paisley Selle; great-grandchildren, Colt Lindal, Walker Lindal, Ainsley Kunschke and Baby Kunschke. He is further survived by many brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Schiebenes; brothers, James Schiebenes and John Schiebenes; parents, Robert E. Sr. and Dorothy Schiebenes; sister-in-law, Donna; and niece, Dawn.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Friday March 13, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Military honors will be conducted following the gathering at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bellin Hospital, Edenbrook, Shawano Health Services and Unity Hospice staff for their continued care of Robert.
