Robert "Bob" Edward Schneider was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose love and kindness touched everyone he met. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rena Schneider (Richey); his two daughters and their husbands, Catherine & Evan McCormick and Amber & Maximilien d'Audiffret; his dear nephew and family, Michael, Ariel, & Rhiannon Segers; and his older sister, Mary Segers- Koscielny.

Bob was deeply loved by his extended family and in-laws. He is survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Michele & Joe Richey, and Rena's siblings: Joe Richey, Mark Richey, Suzanne Richey, Annie Richey, Jeanette & Robert Thorel.

He cherished the memory of those who preceded him in death: his parents Edward Schneider & Walterine Matuszyk, his daughter Sarah Ellen Schneider, and his brothers-in-law John Segers and Michael Kosinsky.

Bob was born in 1955, and grew up in the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago with his parents and sister. From a young age, he loved animals, music, and baseball-his mom often had to patch his jeans from his many adventures. He attended grammar school at St. John of God and later graduated from De La Salle High School. After junior college, Bob became the first in his family to attend university, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, IL.

It was at Bradley University in 1979 that Bob met Rena, the love of his life. From that moment on, they were inseparable and celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this past September. Together, they raised their daughters, built a loving home, and shared a passion for traveling. Among their many adventures, a favorite was a camping trip around Lake Michigan, where they witnessed Northern Lights.

Bob dedicated 40+ years to the power generation industry, working at Will County Station, Joliet Station, and Fisk Station. His passion for his work and his respect for colleagues was evident in his integrity, work ethic, and tenacity.

Family was Bob's greatest joy. He loved taking his family on vacations. Branson, Missouri during the holiday season was a favorite destination. His legacy lives on in the small moments of love he shared-through his presence, listening, humor, and strength. Bob taught his youngest daughter (Amber) guitar and fostered her love of music from a very young age, always jamming out to classic rock. He inspired his oldest daughter (Catherine) to go into engineering and follow in his footsteps.

Bob's family feels the deep loss of his unwavering love and support. They find comfort in his devotion to his Catholic faith, a gift instilled by his mother, with whom he shared a close bond.

Bob loved his family with his whole heart, and that love will forever be remembered.

Family and friends will meet on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. John Cantius Church, 825 North Carpenter Street, Chicago, Illinois 60642 for a 10:00 a.m. Visitation followed by a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
