Robert Dale Schurman

Robert Dale Schurman, 67, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home. He was born December 27, 1955 in Horton, KS, son of Ray Deen and Loren "Dick" Schurman. He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1974, and attended Missouri Western State College on a baseball scholarship. He married Susan Thacker in St. Joseph, MO on June 11, 1977.
Bob had a passion for hunting, fishing, sports, and aviation. He was a loving husband and father and always put his family first. He was involved in his son's sports and coached baseball for many years. He was known for his kindness and selflessness.
Bob retired from the 139th AW/AGS at Rosecran's on September 1, 2000 after approximately 25 years of service. He served his country on several missions including Desert Storm. He was also involved with Advanced Airlift Technical Training Course. He worked as a Aircraft Mechanic for Vanguard Airlines in KC, Air Wisconsin in Colorado Springs, and as an Instructor at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in KC. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Lee Ann Schurman. Survivors include: wife, Susan Schurman of the home, son's, Nathan Schurman of Spokane, WA and Byron Schurman and his Fiancée Nova of St. Joseph, brother, Terry (Anne) Schurman of Spring Hill, KS, sister, Patti (Bill) West of St. Joseph, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Schurman has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at High Creek Cemetery in Watson, MO. Pastor Greg Smith officiating.
