James R. "Dick" Cook Jr., 72, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 in St. Joseph. He was born July 22, 1953 in Louisburg, KS, son of the late Donna Ivalene and James Cook Sr. He graduated from Louisburg High School, Class of 1971. He worked at Union Pacific Railroad as a Lead Carman - working on engines and putting trains back on the track. Dick was an amazing pool player, and involved himself in pool leagues every single year. He considered himself an expert on the barbecue grill, not sure if everyone else would agree. He loved working on cars, fishing, and even went to some Rock concerts in his younger years. He had a great sense of humor, and was always giving everyone a hard time, no one was safe from Dick's quick remarks. James was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, David, Kenny, Twila, and Helen. Survivors include: son, Daniel Cook, daughter, Kristy Cook, daughter, Deanna (Richard) White, grandson, Zack McCrary, granddaughter, Danielle Ivy Rae Meers, ex wife and friend, Jewell Taylor,10 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Linda, Judy, and Victor.
