Kay White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Feb. 20, 2026.
Suzanne "Kay" Terese Garcia White, age 83, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Odessa Regional Medical Center. Kay was born in St. Louis, Missouri and was known to claim the title of "Missouri Mule." However, she was a longtime resident of Odessa, TX (over 50 years). She married O.B. White in Odessa on January 24, 1986 and they enjoyed over 23 years together before separated by his death in 2009. She missed him terribly and longed to be reunited.

In Odessa, Kay had worked at Albertsons and Carrows, where she enjoyed her interactions with the public and colleges. She was quirky and sometimes cranky and definitely danced to her own beat. One of her many nicknames was "Miss Ornery." She could be very kind and often gave her hand crocheted lap blankets away as gifts to friends, doctors, neighbors and even to local nursing home residents. She was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed working out in her yard. Kay was an avid teddy bear collector and filled her home with teddy bear knick-knacks and stuffed animals, including her beloved Eddy Teddy.

Kay leaves behind three grandchildren. In Odessa, TX, she had one grandson: Garrett Blake and his family: wife Jazlyn and children: Amelia Blake, Alaina Blake and Garrett Blake, Jr. In Florida, she had a granddaughter: Christa Donahue and her family: husband Randell Barnes and children: Amiah Donahue and Leroy Hamlet all of Haines City; her daughter: Connie Carter and husband David of Orlando; and granddaughter: Ashley Donahue. Two brothers, Tom Costello and Victor Costello, both of Illinois, also survive her as well as a stepbrother, Robert Holmes of St. Joseph, MO. She is also survived by a brother-in-law: Vick Martell and wife Olene of Wichita, KS. She loved her niece, Lillian Kelly of O'Fallon, IL and had numerous special friends who stayed in touch over the years, including Dr. Ed Rowland and Billie Gladding.

In addition to O.B., she is preceded in death by her mother: Augustina Costello; brothers: Albert and Terry Costello and Jerry Garcia; sister: Margaret Szakacsi; one infant sister, and several other siblings.

Memorial services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on March 9, 2026, at 10am.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West, Kay's friends and neighbors for many years, and condolences may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com.
