Robert L. Scribner passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2025. Robert was born to Robert and Helen Scribner on May 6, 1947. Robert was a life resident of the Township of Morse,
Mellen, Wisconsin. Robert was called Bobby by his siblings, but preferred Robert as he progressed later in life.
Robert was such a kind, very good-hearted man, not a mean bone in his body. Robert sure loved making firewood, for him to have years ahead was the ordinary, he also provided wood to others. Robert loved to cut boughs in the fall. Enjoyed being in the great outdoors working leisurely at his own pace. Robert enjoyed his cook stove to heat meals, bake pies, brew coffee, and enjoy the warmth while looking East toward the farm with the kitchen windows enjoying the sun rising, which he cherished, as he was the 3rd generation to own the "Home Place".
Robert purchased the "Home Place" in 1994 after the passing of our Father. Robert always referred to the farm as the "Home Place". Robert sure liked his radio, always within earshot when possible. Television was not necessary for him unless a good basketball, or baseball game was being aired. Robert was a Milwaukee "Braves" fan in the old days. Robert had followed them closely, always writing scores and schedules whether home or on the road. Robert was a Boston Celtics fan as well. Robert was an avid reader, enjoying learning and how the Stock Market was doing. Robert sure loved using old tools from the era of our grandfather, and father. Things most people would have tossed and bought power equipment in their replacement. Mowing the lawn was with a reel mower, not a rider or push mower, and what a beautiful lawn after he cut. Always keeping the reel in top shape. Robert had an old Victrola and he often listened to the records of talent that are long forgotten by many. Robert knew many, many friends of his friends, co-workers and family; it was just a gift and talent, and he was always happy with a "happy birthday" to so many.
Robert was drafted for the U.S. Army and went through basic training. Robert went to trade school to be a machinist, securing a job at West Bend Pots & Pans. The house had most all products made by the Company. Robert enjoyed the "Employee discount". Many of these well-crafted products are still in his cupboard and were used here and there.
After some years, Robert bought a farm of his own; clearing land and turning the dirt over was a passion for him. Robert worked hard at this project with his trusty Farmall Super C and a one bottom trailer breaker plow. The farm had a very nice barn. Robert was so proud of the beautiful red paint that was applied by himself, his sister Diane, and brother Randy. To this day, the barn shines as a testament to the hard work.
In passing were our parents, Robert and Helen. Grandparents, Lee and Mabel Scribner, Peter and Julia Stilen.
A private burial will take place in Mellen at the Union Cemetery. Robert will be laid to rest in the family plot next to his Parents.
Robert is the oldest of 5 children. Sisters Judy, Linda, Diane, and a brother Randy survive him.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and
Mellen, WI.
