Robert Earle Sellars 85, known affectionately as Earle, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in Lyman, South Carolina surrounded by his family. Earle was born October 15, 1939, to the late Burnon and Leona Moss Sellars in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Earle dedicated many years to Leigh Fibers before embarking on a rewarding venture as a small engine repairman. For 40 years, he ran and operated R&D Engine Repair in Fairforest, South Carolina, a testament to his craftsmanship and commitment to service.
Earle had a vibrant personality, reveling in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed competing in horseshoe throwing competitions and had a knack for fixing lawn mowers, which he approached with the same passion as his other interests, such as eating snacks and spending precious moments with his grandchildren. Earle shared 40 loving years of marriage with Dolores "Dee" Sellars. Among his proudest accomplishments was not only the long-lasting love with his wife but also his participation in the "Knock Downs," a national bowling league at Pinewood Lanes in Spartanburg, SC, which showcased his competitive spirit.
Earle is survived by his loving wife; Dolores “Dee” Sellars, a son; Danny Sellars, three stepchildren, three generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, one sister; Norma Fowler, and one brother; Gerald Sellars. Earle was predeceased by his parents; father Burnon Sellars and mother Leona Moss Sellars, three sons; Ralph Sellars, Bobby Sellars and Eddie Sellars; three sisters; Shirley West, Marie Owings and Caroline Scruggs.
Visitation will be held on November 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, both at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, located at 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Burial will be private.
Robert Earle Sellars will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his skilled craftsmanship, and the joyful spirit he brought into the lives of those around him.
