Wayne Sellars Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home - Farragut Chapel on Jan. 9, 2026.
Harold Wayne Sellars, 83, of Farragut, passed away January 3, 2026, after leading a beautiful life devoted to Christ, his family and his country. The youngest of eight children, he was born in Erwin, Tennessee on November 16, 1942. He met his sweetheart, Jeanne Evans, in first grade. They married June 26, 1965.
A proud Vietnam War Veteran of the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, Wayne served a tour of duty at Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant.
Wayne was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Marketing. He was an investment advisor with Nationwide Retirement Solutions serving as Area Director for the Central and East Tennessee areas.
Being the steadfast patriot, volunteer service to his community and country extended with Wayne's membership in the Concord-Farragut Republican Club and the Optimist Club. He was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1078, and served on the Board of Directors for Teen Board of Knoxville. Wayne was also a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Wayne's greatest enjoyment was spending invaluable time with his family. He was involved with his grandson's activities in baseball, martial arts and their shared love of University of Tennessee sports. He was never one to miss out on a Big Orange Football tailgate party!
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, John Henon and Winnie Sellars, three sisters and four brothers. He cherished his fond memories of them and enjoyed sharing humorous family stories.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeanne Sellars. They have shared a marriage of faith, devotion and love for over sixty years. He was so proud to be "Daddy" to his surviving daughter, Tracy Sellars Kiumarsi, married to Kaivon. Also surviving is his extraordinary treasure and favorite topic of conversation, his grandson, Kaicy Sellars Kiumarsi, to whom he delightedly answered as "Pappy."
Heartfelt gratitude and thankfulness are extended to Farragut Rural Metro first responders and Park West Critical Care Unit for their compassion and care.
The family will receive friends at Click Funeral Home, Farragut Chapel (11915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37934) on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4:00PM to 6:00 PM with Celebration of Life service to follow at 6:00 PM. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Pleasant Forest Cemetery, Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Uncle Wayne was just a precious man, his love and care for his family is inspiring. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. There are so many treasured memories of him that are all just so good and humorous. Being a part of his family is an honor. I love you uncle Wayne.

Our childhood homes were about a block apart, so Wayne and I often played sports together at the Horseshoe or Big Tree. Wayne was one of the fastest boys in our neighborhood and I was always envious of his speed. We were blessed to be tutored by our community's Greatest Generation and Wayne was a popular and successful student at Love Street Elementary and Unicoi County High School. Like many young men in our county, we served with honor during the Vietnam War. While the passing of time separated us, one doesn't forget those first friends who were an important part of those wonderful early years.

Wayne Sellars was one of the finest men I have ever known. He loved his family above all and was a very patriotic American. He was a strong and loyal supporter for me, and I am very grateful to him for that. I will never forget that he traveled the District with me on a thank you tour right after my first election to Congress. This Country would be a much better place if it had more men like Wayne Sellars.
