It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert F. Serna, aged 85, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Robert was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Frank A. Serna and Inez V. Serna. He married Priscilla Lujan in 1967, and they had two sons, Frank and Daniel. They were married for 57 years, until Priscilla's passing in 2023.
Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. He worked at the family bar as a bartender and became a City of Santa Fe firefighter in 1967.
While with the fire department, he also worked part-time at Southwest Distributing, a beverage company. After serving 20 years with the department, he retired from the city in June 1987 and went on to work for Trammell Crow Company.
In 2001, Robert and Priscilla assumed the role of guardians for Leeana Anaya, who grew up in their home like a daughter. They were also godparents to Jeanette Garcia Martinez, Nicole Smith Salazar, and Jerome Anaya.
In celebration of his life, a rosary service will be held on Friday, July 11, at 10:00AM at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, followed by the funeral mass at 10:30AM.
At 1:30PM, Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The remains of his wife, Priscilla Serna, will be interred with him.
