Robert F. Sharp, 85, of Asheville, NC passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Born in Bradenton, Florida to the late Robert F. Sharp and Helen Caldwell Mooers, he was predeceased by his sister Dawn.
Bob is survived by his wife, Florence Cowan Sharp and his children: Alan Sharp (Janice), Susan Sharp, Emory Sharp (Melissa), Marjorie Sharp, and Donna Sharp Hardy (Emory); grandchildren: Adam, Grant, Tony, Anna, Jacob, Kathleen, Emmanuel, and Leona; and great-grandchildren: Greyson, Ryan, Maci, and Henry. He is also survived by cousins Rosalie (Mackie) Mack and Tom Caldwell.
Bob graduated from Vanderbilt University, Florida State University (M.Acc.), and the University of Texas (PhD). He was a proud Navy veteran. He taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Ohio University, where he served as Director of the School of Accountancy.
The Funeral is planned for Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road, with visitation at 2:00. The Rev. Mary Brown will officiate. A private burial will be in the V.A. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Robert F. Sharp Scholarship Fund, Ohio University Foundation, P.O Box 869, Athens, OH 45701 or the Men's Garden Club of Asheville, Box 633, Asheville, NC 28802.
