Robert "Bob" Arnold Shipman, 87, of Dixon, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Henry Rehab and Nursing, in Henry, IL. He worked for Lifka Excavating, in Sterling, for 21 years, and later on at Propheter Construction, in Sterling, for 21 years, and was a member of Local 150 Operating Engineers.
Bob was born on April 30, 1937, in Polo, IL, the second oldest of twelve children of Galor and Dorothy (Rhodes) Shipman. He married Rita Bowers on November 7, 1959, in Brookville, IL. He proudly served in the United States Army. Bob enjoyed his many years in the construction industry, later enjoying his retirement on the river. Above all, Bob cherished and loved his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita Shipman, of Dixon; three daughters, Melody (Bob) Mott, of Oregon, IL, Tracey (Nick) Hulbert, of McConnell, IL, Lori Shipman, of Rockford, IL; two grandchildren, Ashley (Eric Demmer) VanOosten, Matthew (Victoria) Hinkle; two great-grandchildren, Kylar and Rory; and numerous siblings.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one granddaughter, Amanda Sue VanOosten.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at on 11:30 am on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, in Dixon, with Pastor Robert Dunbar, officiating. A Private Graveside Service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, in Dixon.
Memorials may be directed to Henry Rehab and Nursing, in Henry, or Granny Rose Animal Shelter, in Dixon.
