Robert Sibary Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jowett Family Funeral Home - Benzonia on Aug. 27, 2024.
Robert Lee Sibary of Bear Lake passed away August 25, 2024, at the age of 93.
In 1956, Bob married Nancy McConnell and embarked on their honeymoon in the Arcadia area, where they visited the infamous scenic turnaround. They returned to the view a year later with their first son, Rodney, and as they continued down the hill on M22, they mused about how they wished they could live there someday. Robert and Nancy returned to Luther soon after, continuing to grow their family. It was also in Luther where Robert began his 68-year membership in the Methodist church and became involved with the Luther Lakes Masonic Temple. By 1966, Robert would begin his prolific career in carpentry and building. In 1981, Robert and Nancy returned to Arcadia permanently, moving into a home just off of M22 with Inspiration Point about one mile away. It was a caretaking job with the Lutheran Church Camp RKD that brought them back to the town of Arcadia; Robert would hold this position for several years until he returned to his work in construction and carpentry. His integrity and work ethic have continued to shape the town of Arcadia, leaving very few homes and lives untouched by the Sibary name, Throughout the years Arcadia became a home away from home for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Above all else, Robert valued family, faith, and his wife, Nancy.
Robert is survived by wife Nancy Sibary, 6 children Rodney (Pat) Sibary, Amy (Todd) Steiner, Pat (Pam) Sibary, Rob (Barb) Sibary, Diane (Arnold) Parrish, Jamie (Bridget) Sibary, 13 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Augusta (Streu) Sibary, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, daughter in law Viola Sibary, grandsons Norman (Gydesen) Sibary and Javier Guillen.
A service will be held Thursday August 29th at the Arcadia Methodist Church in Arcadia, Mi. Visitation will be starting at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:00 pm, followed by a luncheon at the Arcadia Lions club. Arrangements by Jowett Family Funeral Home of Benzonia, Mi.
