Robert C. Sims Sr.

Robert C. Sims Sr., 95, of Tarentum, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at Platinum Ridge, Brackenridge. He was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Tarentum to the late Ralph and Dora (Ross) Sims. Robert has lived his entire life in the area and was of the Protestant faith. He was a lab technician for the Upper Allegheny Joint Sewer Authority for 34 years. Robert was a veteran of the Korean era, serving in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Highland Hose for 77 years and the longest-serving member of the Tarentum Fire Department. Robert graduated from Tarentum High School in 1948 and enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. Survivors include his children Margaret (Kevin) Wyant, of Fawn Township, Robert (Judith) Sims, of Lower Burrell, and Karen Allen, of Allegheny Township; grandchildren, Christa (Ludwig) Rocabado, Robert (Carley) Wyant, Jamie (Keith) Bastine, and Andrew Wyant; and great-grandchildren, Dexter, Annie, and Kaley. Also surviving is his sister, Carol Licata, of Lower Burrell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean (Humes) Sims, in 2017; siblings, Connie Baker, Audrey Wilson, Betty Jane Boda, Ralph Sims, Richard Sims, Eileen Geahry, William Sims, and James Sims; and son-in-law, Jack Allen. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Highland Hose will meet in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025.
