Robert Slagle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2024.
Robert Slagle was born in Ibague, Colombia, on September 27, 1987, and became part of the Slagle family in 1988 in Juneau, Alaska. Robert was bright and curious during his Juneau school years. He loved soccer and played from kindergarten through high school. He was fiercely loyal to his teammates and friends.

Skateboarding and rapping were among his passions. It tied in with his quirky sense of humor and quick smile. He attended college in Oregon while working summers in commercial fishing and construction. He settled in Renton, Washington and loved walking or skateboarding along the Cedar River pathway. Robert remained an avid reader and generally had a book in easy reach.

Robert is survived by his parents Tom (TJ) and Nancy, his brother Joe Slagle, sister Jodie Sykes, as well as his nephew William Sykes and niece Jancy Sykes who he loved dearly. His cat Randy held a very special place in his heart.

He passed away on July 17, 2024, at his home in Renton. He will be dearly missed. There will be a celebration of Robert's life at the Parkdale Grange Hall in Parkdale, Oregon, on September 27 (his birthday) from 10:00 am to noon. RSVPs are appreciated by emailing [email protected]. Please remember Robert in your prayers. He will be interred at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, Washington, next to his godfather, John Slagle.

Rob and I were friends many years ago and I was just thinking about how he used to read me his raps and poetry. He was an incredibly talented tortured artist and there was never a dull moment with him. His smile and presence will be missed.
