It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, and Bumpa, Robert (Bob) H. Smethurst, at the age of 83. Robert passed surrounded by those he loved on September 28, 2025, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. A U.S. Army Veteran, born in Boston, MA, the son of Harold and Eleanor Smethurst, who preceded him in death. Bob was the beloved husband of Nancy Connelly Smethurst of Londonderry, NH, formerly of Woburn, MA. His children, Robin Smethurst Clayton and husband William of Meredith, NH, William Smethurst and wife Ann of Alton, NH, Melissa Smethurst Lane and husband David of Nashua, NH, and Robert J. Smethurst and wife Heather of Windham, NH, will remember him for his strength, wisdom, and the silly names he made for us all. He and Nancy's greatest pride was their grandchildren, Christopher and Adam (Ashley) Clayton, Matthew, CJ, and Billy Smethurst, Garrett and Brady Lane, and Harper and Robert James Smethurst. He will be lovingly remembered by many extended family members and friends.

Bob recently celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with the love of his life. The love he had for Nancy knew no bounds. They raised their children in Burlington, MA, later moving to Wilmington, MA, and finally to Londonderry, NH. Bob and Nancy spent several years wintering in Bonita Springs, FL.

Bob was the owner of Wm. Smethurst and Son, Inc. in Malden, MA, and NH Tile Distributors, where his sons worked alongside him and helped to grow the business into New Hampshire and beyond. He will be remembered by his customers for his hard work ethic and friendly demeanor. When he wasn't working, he could be found out in the yard landscaping or in his workshop, where he honed his talents with all kinds of home projects and furniture refinishing. He loved hot rod cars and NASCAR races. His favorite place to visit was Lake Winnipesaukee, where he spent one of his last days before falling ill.

We will find comfort in knowing that Bob's legacy lives on through his love for family, the lessons he taught us, and the memories we will cherish forever.

Friends and family are invited to honor and remember Bob at calling hours on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 3 until 6 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 6:00 PM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's memory may be made to Philanthropy, Home Health & Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive Merrimack, NH 03054 or at https://www.hhhc.org/how-to-help/memorial-gifts
