Ronald Hunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home - Salem on Feb. 8, 2026.
Ronald J. Hunt, Jr. passed away, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He was a devoted son, a loving husband, a proud father to his three girls who were the greatest joy of his life, and a cherished papa whose happiness was found in time spent with his grandchildren.

Ron was a hardworking man throughout his life. He spent many years as a union laborer with the Massachusetts Laborers' Union, Local 22, before retiring, and later found pride and purpose in his role as a custodian at a local elementary school, a job he truly enjoyed and took great pride in.

Outside of work, Ron found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved being outdoors, tending to his garden, mowing his lawn, enjoying good food, and most of all, being with his family. He poured countless hours of care and dedication into his yard, taking great pride in its appearance, and was honored to be recognized with Garden of the Month and Year, an achievement that reflected both his hard work and his love for making things grow.

Ronald is survived by his daughters, Kate MacDonald and her husband Mike MacDonald of Londonderry, New Hampshire; Kelsey Shields and her husband Andrew Shields of Randolph, Massachusetts; and Kiley Bartlett and her husband Jake Bartlett of Carrollton, Virginia. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Patrick Shields, Nora MacDonald, Charles MacDonald, and Jackson Shields.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
