Robert Smith Obituary
Rutland-Robert "Dick" Smith, 85, of Rutland, died on Tuesday, August 5 ,2025, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Boston MA on December 31, 1939.
He was a Husband of 61 years to Nancy, a Father to Stacey and Robert followed by 4
Grandchildren Joseph, Kaylee, Gabriella and Robert Luka.
Dick was a Graduate of UVM with a bachelors in Business, Co-owner of Seward's Sales and Service for 35 years, Medic in the Air Force Reserves, Former Hospital Board member,
Former Library Board Member, Member of the Boy Scout Council, Member of Grace Church
and a former Police Commissioner of 20 years.
Dick believed in fairness and was a man of integrity. He was well respected in the
community and loved our country. He enjoyed talking with people, eating, watching tv, sailing,
skiing, and golf.
Dick had a great sense of humor and loved keeping up with current events. As a family we enjoyed
Holidays, Birthdays and Family gatherings.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 om Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Roadside Chapel,1680 Townline Rd., Rutland Town, Vt. A reception will follow.
