Robert M. Smith was born on March 13, 1943 to the late Beulah and Ernest Smith Sr. in Montezuma, Georgia.
Robert attended Flint River Farm Elementary and D.F. Douglas High Schools in Montezuma, Georgia.
In 1960, Robert moved to Rochester, NY with 3 goals in mind that served as the framework for relocating to Rochester. Goal 1: Find a Job, Goal 2: attend a trade school, Goal 3: Have a family.
Plus be in a position to help his mother and siblings adjust and thrive in the new location. He worked more than one job but never losing focus of his goals.
Robert gained employment at Eastman Kodak company where the apprenticeship program became available and of course was accepted in the program; where he successfully completed in the field of engineering. He remained employed at Kodak/ L3 Harris for 36 years as an engineer.
Robert met the love of his life Toni Ann Curtis in 1968. They were married on November 7, 1970. And to this union one son was born, Jason Jamaal.
Robert is predeceased by his father, Ernest and his mother, Beulah Smith; three brothers, Marion ..Bill, James, Ernest Jr.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife Toni Ann; son, Jason Jamaal; granddaughter, Mara Eden; granddaughter-in-love, Zoe Marie; two sisters: Bertha L. Key and Pauline Viverette; four brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Ginna) Curtis, Hanif Abdul-Wahid (Kimberly), Michael Curtis of Houston, Texas; three sisters-in-law:
Mary Gamble (Donald), Joy Smith (James), Thelma Smith (Marion); god-daughter, Natisha Morris; aunt, Louise Lee and a host of loving, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November, 5th, 2025 from 11am to 12pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd. where his service will follow at 12pm. Minister Pauline S. Viverette, officiating.
