Robert Clyde "Bob" Smith JR

Robert Clyde "Bob" Smith, Jr, 64 of McLouth, KS died Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at his home. Bob was born February 28, 1961 at Suffolk, VA. He was raised by his mother, Ruth Marie (Cline) Harding and dad, John Harding. He was a 1979 graduate of McLouth High School and was a member of the 1978 McLouth football team that placed second in the state.

A U.S. Army Veteran, He served 12 years as a Staff Sgt in the U.S. Army and participated in numerous assignments around the world before being discharged as disabled in 1992. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler since 1992 in Kansas City, MO. He also served as President of the Mailhandler's Union. Bob was very active coaching in all sports for his kids. Football, basketball and baseball. He loved his family, children and grandchildren, and never missed a sporting event or program.

Survivors include one daughter, Tiffany Smith, Tonganoxie, KS, three sons, Robert A. (Amanda) Smith, Topeka, KS, Ryan (Cassie) Smith, Hiawatha, KS, Derek (Ashley) Peterson, Baldwin City, KS, three sisters, Jeannie Kimes, Tuscon, AZ, Carolyn Smith, Winter Haven, FL, Edna Brubaker, Lawrence, KS, 12 grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Sharon Combs, Tammy Jo Driscoll and Rosie Hargrove.

A Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. A Funeral Service will 10:30 AM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at McLouth First Baptist Church of McLouth. Burial with military honors will be 12:30 PM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Leavenworth V.A. National Cemetery.
