Robert Soileau Sr. Obituary
Robert Soileau Sr. was a dedicated farmer who cultivated not just crops but also a deep love for his family and the land he worked on. Born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on Tuesday, April 5, 1949, Robert's green thumb and passion for agriculture led him to become a successful farmer of soybeans, corn, and anything that could grow in the fertile Louisiana ground.
Those who knew Robert will fondly remember his jovial nature and his love for laughter. His fondest memories were often filled with moments of joy spent cutting up with his beloved family. Robert cherished his loved ones above all else and found immense happiness in their company.
Outside of his work on the farm, Robert had a few great loves in life. He had a profound passion for hunting and fishing, finding solace in the tranquility of nature. Furthermore, he was an excellent cook who took great delight in preparing meals for his family. As much as he enjoyed cooking, Robert relished eating what he had lovingly prepared even more.
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Robert Soileau Sr. peacefully passed away in St. Landry, Louisiana, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter. He is survived by his beloved family and friends who will always carry his memory in their hearts including his daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Hillman (Chip) and two sons, Michael Soileau (Patrica) and Robert Soileau, Jr. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his six grandchildren, Austin, Caitlin, Jason, Anna, John Robert, and Hazely Rayn; one great grandchild, Jasper; and one sister, Patsy “Pat” Soileau.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lessie Joubert Soileau; wife, Sally Dupre Soileau, and great grandson, Jensen Hillman.
A "Celebration of Life" service in honor of Robert Soileau Sr. will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The service will be an opportunity for all those whose lives were touched by Robert to come together and celebrate the impact he had during his time on earth.
In loving memory of Robert Soileau Sr., may his legacy continue to live on through the memories shared by those who knew him best.
