Robert Ernest "Bob" South Jr.

Robert "Bob" Ernest South, Jr., 72, beloved husband of Benita South, went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky.

Born on September 2, 1953, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Robert E. South, Sr. and Violet Nell Fessler South, Bob grew up to be a man defined by loyalty, faith, and unwavering conviction. He dedicated nearly 31 years of his life to the United States Postal Service, serving as a supervisor and forming lasting friendships along the way. For over 20 years, he was a proud member of American Legion Post 24. As an Army veteran, Bob carried a deep love for his country and took great pride in his service.

Bob truly never met a stranger. A quick trip to the grocery store could easily turn into an hour-long conversation - and he wouldn't have had it any other way. He loved people, and people loved him right back. His warmth, humor, and willingness to stop and talk made the world feel a little smaller and a lot kinder.

He found peace in the simple joys of life - watching and caring for his birds, spending quiet time reading his Bible, and keeping his rosary close by. His faith was not just something he spoke about; it was something he lived. He also loved the freedom of motorcycles and the feeling of the open road.

Bob was a man who stood firmly for what he believed in. He loved deeply and fiercely - especially his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Nothing meant more to him than the people he loved.

To know Bob was to know loyalty, strength, faith, and kindness. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and love that will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Besides his wife, Robert will be lovingly remembered by his four sons, Bobby "Bo" Robert E South, III, Joey (Chariety) Dunn, Lance (Shana) Dunn, and James South; one daughter, Carol South; two brothers, Thomas "Butch" South, and Ronnie South; one sister, Cathy South. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brittany (Breanna) Isbell, Blake (Melissa) Dunn, Jaxson South, Declan South, Harper Dunn, Riley Koger and Sebastion (Grace) Koger and lastly, two great grandchildren, Eden Koger and Evelyn Dunn.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in his passing by one brother, John South and one sister in law, Diane South.
