Robert Landford Southerland, 91, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Saturday, October 18, surrounded by those who loved him.
Born and raised in Lonoke County, Robert spent his life rooted in the community he cherished. He was married to his late wife, Ida Fay Southerland, for 59 wonderful years and was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Later in life, he was blessed to share his days with his loving wife, Doris Roberts, who has been a kind and compassionate companion by his side.
Robert is survived by his sister, Dorthy Davis, residing in California, as well as his two children: Robbie Southerland of Sheridan and Jenny Marie House of Cabot. He is also survived by three stepdaughters, all of whom reside in Cabot, several grandchildren, and numerous cousins who will profoundly miss him.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Ida Fae Southerland, three sisters: Virginia Holt, Kaylyn Cagle, and Willian Boykin; a brother, Troy Southerland; his mother, Helen Southerland; and his father, Milton Southern.
Robert was a reserved individual who found satisfaction in life's small details. He approached his dominoes game seriously and helped maintain lawns for neighbors and his church community, spreading Joy through his humor. After over twenty years with the Pathfinders organization in Jacksonville, Arkansas, he retired at eighty but continued to serve by caring for lawns without expectation of compensation. As a founding member of Cross Covenant Church, he played a key role in its establishment and maintained its grounds for more than fifty years.
Robert exemplified a life of diligence and compassion. He will be remembered for his kindness and commitment to others. His absence will be deeply felt.
