Robert Spagnuolo Obituary

Robert Joseph Spagnuolo, Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 94. Born on December 16, 1930, in Manhattan, New York, he lived a life marked by dedication to family, service, and personal interests.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he developed a steadfast sense of duty and camaraderie. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an Employment Interviewer with the New York State Employment Commission, where he was known for his commitment to helping others find meaningful employment.

A graduate of The College of William and Mary, Robert held a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, which laid the foundation for his professional endeavors and personal pursuits. He had a zest for life that was evident in his love for gambling, especially at the casino, and shared many joyous moments playing Pinochle with friends and family. His fondness for cruising the Caribbean and leisurely walks along the shorelines were among his most treasured pastimes.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Darlene Spagnuolo (née Creekmore), his parents Amelia DiAngeles and Joseph Spagnuolo, and his sisters Marie Brown and Josephine Carlson. His legacy continues through his daughter, Amelia "Amy" Greene and husband Joseph, and son, Robert J. Spagnuolo and wife Teresa. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Darlene Hernandez (Eddy), Sharon Preator (Ryan), Jamison Greene, Alyssa Spencer (Todd), and Nicholas Spagnuolo (Anna). His memory will be cherished by his five great-grandchildren: Seth Logan, Brianna Alvarez, Emily Preator, Kaitlyn Preator, and Sophie Spencer.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home and Cremations, Southside Chapel, located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.

Robert's presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but the values and memories he imparted will endure in the hearts of those he loved.
