Robert "Bob" A. Spelman, Sr., 73, of East Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Milton G. and Ada M. (Wareham) Spelman.

Bob was a proud graduate of Hope High School, Class of 1970, where he enjoyed playing both football and track. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, where he served with distinction as an Avionics Electrical Technician. His skill and steady presence earned him multiple flight-crew commendations, particularly for his work supporting at-sea rescue operations. Bob retired in 1979 with the rank of AET1 and went on to continue his craft as an electrician until his retirement in 2015.

Bob was a man of simple joys and strong opinions. He was an avid reader, a loyal New England Patriots fan, and a lifelong fisherman who could spend hours casting a line and insisting the big one got away.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Travers. He is survived by his children: Lori Spelman of Spruce Pine, NC; Robert A. Spelman, Jr. of Naples, FL; and John Michael Spelman and his wife Rikki of North Scituate, RI. He also leaves behind his sisters: Susan G. McNulty and her late husband Jack of Warwick; Linda A. Reinhard and her husband Derek of Vienna, VA; and Ellen J. Cedarfield of Agawam, MA; as well as five grandchildren: Devin, Dylan, Jordan, Donovan, and Diego-and a great-grandson, Leon.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, his services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Camp Aldersgate, 1043 Snake Hill Rd., North Scituate, RI 02857, www.campaldersgate.com.
