Robert "Bob" Steagall

December 10, 1925 – November 6, 2025

The world lost a good man and an even better fishing partner when Robert "Bob" Steagall cast his final line on November 6, 2025 just one month shy of his 100th birthday.

Bob was born into a large and lively household as one of 12 children, on December 10, 1925 in Spray, Oregon, to Thomas and Cora Steagall. Bob spent nearly a century living with a fishing rod in one hand and a mug of hot chocolate in the other. Whether he was standing on the banks of his riverside home at sunrise or swapping stories with friends over a box of donuts, he believed that life's best moments were the simple ones - a good bite on the line, family, friends and laughter echoing nearby.

Bob built a successful career in real estate, helping countless families find homes where they could build their own memories. His honesty, warmth, and genuine care for people made him not only respected in his work but deeply loved by those who knew him. He approached every client as he did everything in life - with integrity, patience, and a sincere desire to help others.

For 44 years, he was happily married to the love of his life, Mary, with whom he shared countless adventures, and quiet mornings. Together, they built a love story based on kindness, humor, and a deep appreciation for life's blessings.

Bob cherished his family above all else. He loved wholeheartedly, laughed easily, and never met a stranger. He had a sweet smile, a ready story, and a heart that welcomed everyone. Even near the end, he made it clear - he didn't want to go. He loved life too much, and life, it seems, loved him right back!

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; his children; Mary Driscoll, Donna Slater, Robert (Terri) Steagall, Dan Brewster, and Kathryn (Bob) Stewart. Bob has left a legacy of 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Clark. His family will forever remember him for his wisdom, warmth and hugs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and other dear family members who held a special place in his heart and whom welcomed him home.

Funeral services will be held November 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Huston Jost Funeral Home (86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, Oregon). In memory of his life and the love he shared, contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org., in place of flowers. We also ask that you take someone you love fishing, share a donut, and savor the beautiful simplicity of a well-lived day.

A reception will follow the funeral service at the American Legion (480 S. Main St., Lebanon, Oregon) and all are welcome to join the family in remembering and celebrating his life.

Yesterday

Dear Mary and Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of our dear friend, Bob. He was a longtime family friend, colleague, and truly an extraordinary human being. The world is brighter and better for having known him.
Bob touched our lives deeply-leaving lasting, warm memories with Rod and Marty, Randy and his girls, Sarah, Ashleigh, and Haley. We all have so many fun memories of him at the office and will always remember his kind greetings. He was always ready with a smile, a nice word, and a helping hand. His generosity of spirit, his thoughtfulness, and his genuine warmth will never be forgotten.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a true treasure to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Randy Tripp and Family, Albany, Oregon
