Robert Raymond Steele, Jr., 71 of Morocco, IN passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was born in Kankakee, IL on June 27, 1953, the son of Robert R. Steele, Sr. and Doris E. (Woodard) Steele. He was a graduate of North Newton High School.
On May 12, 2007, in Shelby, IN, he married the love of his life, Mary A. Stanker. Bob was a welder-fabricator at Rouse/Regional Trucking in Schneider, IN and a volunteer firefighter with the Lake Township Fire Dept. in Lake Village, IN. He loved riding and working on his motorcycle and tinkering around on engines in his garage. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and "heating Indiana" with his famous bon fires.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Steele; five children: Tina (Darren) Stevenson, Michelle (Victor) Peters, Cheryl Steele, Kendra (Donald) Stanker and Bobbie Steele; nine grandchildren: Tyler Andriese, Riley Sons, Michael Steele (girlfriend: Angela), Brandan Flatt, Miranda Steele, Devina Stevenson, Cynthia (Jameson) Stevenson, Darren Stevenson and Waylon Moyer; and seven great-grandchildren: Jayden Steele, Ellie Cranmer, Ryker Beverly, Ben Justice, Ray Pulley, Charlie Atkins and Everest Kent. He is also survived by four brothers: James (Judy) Steele, Jeff Steele, Scott (Deb) Steele and Danny (Tracy) Steele; and three sisters: Elizabeth (Carlos) Fernandez, Marla (Mark) Allen and Yvonne Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is planning a celebration of Robert's life for Friday, January 31, 2025 at noon at the Lake Township Fire Dept., 9728 N. 300 W, Lake Village, IN 46349.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Steinke Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
