Robert Stepan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Westover Chapel on Mar. 3, 2026.
Robert A "Bob" Stepan, age 66, of Clive, Iowa, passed away on February 9, 2026, in his home. He was born on September 20, 1959, in Sumner, Iowa to Edward and Mary Ann (Folkers) Stepan. Bob grew up in Northeast Iowa helping on the family farm. He attended school at North Fayette School in West Union. In junior high he was active in band playing the trombone, and in choir. In high school he was part of FFA for several years as well as the Hawkeye JCs. Bob graduated from North Fayette in 1978.

Bob married Connie on August 8, 1981, and was married for 28 years. Shortly after getting married, they moved to Fairbury, Nebraska where he worked on a farm. He welcomed Ray on June 2, 1983, and then a few years later Teri joined the family on May 19, 1986. In October 1986, they moved to Creston, Nebraska where Bob worked at Larson Farms as a farm hand, milking cows, helping with the harvesting and tending to the livestock. He worked at the farm for 30 years. In 2017 Bob decided to move to Iowa so he could be closer to his grandkids. He became an Uber driver and loved getting to meet new people all the time.

Bob was an avid bowler and spent many years on bowling leagues between Humphrey and Leigh, Nebraska. He loved doing family bowling while his kids were younger as it was a great way to bond. He spent a couple of years playing pool in a league in Leigh, Nebraska. Bob helped Ray and Teri when they were in 4-H with their rabbits, and building rockets. You could always find him at games cheering on his kids, or the dance recitals for his granddaughters. He loved cooking/baking, playing games, and spending time with his granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary Ann Stepan, 3 brothers: Gerald, Ronnie, and David Stepan, and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived in death by his loving children Ray Stepan of Manhattan, KS, and Teri (Jeff) Link of Laurens, IA; and his beloved grandchildren: Aiden, Logan, Bella, and Abbie Link. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Randy (Marilyn) Stepan of West Union, IA; Garold Stepan of Janesville, WI; Ray (Wanda) Stepan of Eldorado, IA; Christie (Jamie) Mitchell of Leech Lake, MN; Lanet (Keith) Suhr of Fredericksburg, IA; Wayne (Jeneane) Stepan of Iowa City, IA; Mark (Jenny) Stepan of West Union, IA; Edward Stepan of San Angelo, TX; Ann (Justin) Knudtson of Cedar Falls, IA; and Carol (Jacob) Nielsen of Altoona, IA. Survivors also include 24 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dates for a service and burial have not been set yet and will be planned in the upcoming weeks.
