Larry Lee Watson, 82, of Urbandale, IA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Larry was born on August 30, 1943, in Des Moines, IA, the son of Norman Harris and Bonnie Vivian (Thompson) Watson. He received his education in the Grimes schools, graduating in 1961. Larry entered the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. Following his discharge, he returned to Des Moines and married Linda Pilmer on August 30, 1969.

Larry and Linda made their home in Waukee and later Urbandale. He was employed as a semi driver for UPS until his retirement.

Larry and Linda enjoyed bowling and traveling, spending their winters in Sarasota, FL, for many years. They also treasured trips to Hawaii and several destinations across Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Norman, and a stepbrother, Joseph Norris.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Teresa (Scott) Grau, Christine (Troy) Berglund, and Darrick Watson; and six grandchildren, Jacob, Conner (Brenna), Carson, Hunter, Finnegan, and Amelia.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
