Robert “Bob” Francis Stinger, 80, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away on May 26, 2025, in Naples, Utah
Born February 1, 1945 in Syracuse New York to Bernard and Elizabeth Stinger.
He was baptized and later confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Syracuse, New York. It was during this time that he would gain his amazing step-dad, Frederick Jacob and his sister Marjorie.
Bob joined the United States Army and served one tour of duty in Pleiku, Vietnam after which he was honorably discharged.
Soon after Bob relocated to Southern California where he started a life by marrying Jill Doty, having 3 boys: Steven, Joseph, and Thomas
Years later Bob moved to Roosevelt, where he lived out the rest of his years. During this time he would remarry to Cindy Bowden Stinger and gained 2 more sons and his only daughter. Cindy was by his side as he passed to his eternal reward.
He carried the spirit of Syracuse, New York with him always, a city he loved deeply and remembered fondly long after he moved on. His quiet resilience was undoubtedly shaped by his time as a Vietnam veteran, an experience that instilled in him a profound appreciation for life's simple gifts. He truly asked for little, finding immense joy and peace in the simple pleasure of a country drive, where he could soak in the beauty of the passing scenery. His gentle nature, enduring love for his roots, and quiet contentment will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by: his wife, Cindy Bowden Stinger; sister, Marjorie (Tom) Miller; sons: Steven, Joseph, Thomas, Andy, Davie and daughter Mellissa; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, brother, James Stinger, and grandson Shaun Kelsey.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
