Dr. Robert H. Story, 81, of Tuskegee, AL, passed away January 18, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1940, in Tuskegee, AL. He graduated Tuskegee High School, Auburn University and UAB Medical School. After graduation he trained with the US Army 82nd Airborne Division and served in Vietnam as a Major with the 173rd Airborne Brigade as the Special Troops Battalion surgeon where he received a Bronze Star. After the war, he returned home to Tuskegee and practiced family medicine, where he took care of Macon County and beyond for over 45 years. He was Chief of Staff of Tallassee Hospital for many years and served on countless medical associations and charity organizations. He was an active member of Union Christian Church in Little Texas, AL. His faith was the foundation of his life and his practice. He was Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Uncle Bobby, Dr. Bob, and Doc to so many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, and wife of 40 years Hilda C. Story. He is survived by his wife Janet Stillwell Story; his children Chet (Kimberly) Story of Auburn, GA, Katie (Jeff) Burger of Birmingham, AL, Lon (Luann) Simpson of Auburn, AL, Lori (Vince) Ingram of Auburn AL, and Joann & Sean Lauraitis of Auburn, AL; grandchildren Jessica, Austin, Jewel, Jake, Kaelan, Sophia, Lily, Trevor, Brittany, Matthew, Foster, Noah, Annsleigh and Madison; his great-grands Jaxson, Emma, Junior, and Rowan.

Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 A.M., with service to follow at 11:00 A.M. all to be held at Union Christian Church in the Little Texas community of Tuskegee, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Union Christian Church, 1111 County Road 69, Tuskegee, AL 36083, EAMC Spencer Cancer Center-Opelika, AL, American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association.
