He was born June 6,1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Malcolm and Thelma Stremmel. He met
his wife, Dorothy Myers, in college, and they were married November 14, 1959, almost 65
years ago.
Skip graduated from Centralia High School (Illinois) in 1954, Washington University (St.
Louis) in 1959 with a BS in Geological Engineering, and Indiana University (Bloomington) in
1964 with an MBA in Accounting. He spent 8 ½ years in the US Army and Army Reserve,
attaining the rank of Captain. Skip worked for Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation as
a field engineer before joining Gulf Oil Corporation where he was employed for 29 years,
serving in various financial management capacities. It was with Gulf that he and his family
lived in several different locations: Houston, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Singapore,
Republic of Singapore; and Tokyo, Japan.
He and his wife, Dottie, were members of various churches during their travels and most
recently, Klein United Methodist Church in Spring, Texas. Skip was a member of Sigma Nu
Fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma, the Gulf Oil Annuitants' Club, the American Institute of
CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dottie; daughter, Julie Shaeff of Spring,
Texas; son, Jeffrey Stremmel and his wife, Lisa, of Minneapolis, Minnesota;
granddaughters, Megan Shaeff, Nicole Shaeff, and Kylie Stremmel; and many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Todd
and Susan Calvert.
