Robert Stricklin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory - Daphne on Mar. 23, 2024.
Robert Ray Stricklin. Jr. was born on July 21,1954, and departed his earthly life on March 22, 2024, reaching the age of 69.
Robert was the son of Robert Ray Stricklin Sr. and Joyce Baker Stricklin, both deceased. He was born in Alameda County, California and remained in California until he was 12, then he and his family moved to Kentucky. He resided there until graduating from Monticello High School in 1972 at the age of 18, when he joined the US Air Force. He was stationed in Alabama, where he met and married his wife of 47 years, Susan Buxton Stricklin, who survives him. He remained a resident of Alabama until his passing.
Robert was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Marie Nunemaker Stricklin and George Howard and Juanita Mertes Baker.
He is survived by two children, Robert Chad (Candice) Stricklin, and Heather Stricklin (Robby) Howard; five grandchildren, Jackson David, Grant Sellers and Robert Pierce Howard, Carter Grace and Baker Ray Stricklin. He is also survived by four sisters, Cheryl (Freddie) Gregory, Lori (Rick) Slagle, Carole Butcher, and Amanda (Rick) Coffey all of Kentucky; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Robert's hobbies included fishing, camping, and golfing. As a teenager, he spent several summers camping at the family cabin at Lake Tahoe with numerous cousins, which spiked his love for fishing and camping.
After leaving the Air Force, Robert worked and retired from American Candy Company in Selma, Alabama, after 20 years of service. Robert had been a caregiver to his beloved wife since 2009. He was an active member of the Crosspoint Christian Church in Selma, Alabama.
Graveside burial service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL State Hwy. 225, in Spanish Fort, Alabama, at 2PM.
The family would like to say special thanks to Robertsdale Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Aveanna Hospice, and the William F. Green Veterans Home for the great care they provided for Robert.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Robert's memory to the William F. Green Veterans Home, by sending a check to 300 Faulkner Drive, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
