Strmiska, Robert Dean "Bob"
MADISON – Robert Dean "Bob" Strmiska passed away peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare on August 27, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born in Stanton, Neb. to Carl and Edna Mae (Vollbrecht) Strmiska on January 22, 1935. With his older sister Dona Jean, the family moved to the Prairie du Sac area and then to Madison when Bob started school. He attended Madison Central High School and MATC. He was in the Army from 1954-1956, stationed much of that time in England. He married Carol Anne Baun on November 30, 1963 after meeting in the Madison Skin Diving Club. They had one son who preceded him in death in 1992. Bob worked at Oscar Mayer for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, golfing, repairing small engines, and a good game of euchre. Survivors include his wife, Carol of 57 years; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara (Carl) Naugle, Rotonda West Fla.; Jan Ely, Green Bay, Wis., Bob (Carol) Baun, Silver Springs Fla., Ken (Efrat Livny) Baun, Madison Wis., Dan (Janis) Baun, Winter Haven, Fla., and Kathy Baun, Cottage Grove, Wis. Further survivors include special niece/Goddaughter Amy Sprecher, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Norbert and Jane Baun; his son, Thomas Alan; his sister and brother-in-law Dona Jean and Jr (Edwin) Sprecher; sister Sherril Ann in infancy; brother-in-law, Bill Adams; niece, Becky Wiatrok; aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave. Madison, from 4 p.m. – 7 .p.m. A private family service will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, 5001 N Sherman Ave, Madison 53704, or Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Carol, please know we are here for you, do not hesitate to call us. We will always remember Bob for his dislike of dandelions! And our yard was full of them until Bob came along. Not many people have touched our lives like your Bob. He will be remembered and missed. He was one of the good guys!
