Robert "Bob" Sulia passed away peacefully December 29, 2025.Bob was born in Middlebury, VT and moved to New Jersey shortly thereafter. Upon graduating from Ewing High School in 1977 he enlisted in the United States Navy specializing as a Weapons Technician achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Bob's duty assignments took him all over the world including numerous naval bases as well as the carriers USS America and USS Nimitz. Retiring from the Navy in 1999 Bob utilized his expertise in security in numerous positions in the private sector. In his early days Bob was a paper boy, played baseball, wrestled, and did summer theater. He joined the Youth Group at Bethany Lutheran Church and joined the Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Through scouting he developed a love for camping and nature. He loved exploring the outdoors on his Harley with his wife Sue which, among other places, included several trips to Daytona and Sturgis.

After retirement he devoted himself to the Medina Masonic Lodge #58 (Past Master), Medina Eastern Star #266 (Past Worthy Patron), Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, National Sojourners Cleveland #23, Copley Fairlawn Kiwanis (Treasurer), the Copley American Legion Frank Bender Post #473, Crusade Baptist Church, and Copley Methodist Church.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother; Kathleen Lore Sulia, uncle Bob Lore, in-laws; Andrew and Katherine Nuss, brother-in-laws; Andrew Nuss of Ohio and Laurence Jeffrey Purdy of California . He is survived by the light of his life, his wife of 35 years, Susan (Nuss) Sulia, father; Robert Sulia, siblings; Patricia and Michael McGuire, Joseph and Adell Sulia, Amy Sulia and Dave Smith, Rich and Karin Laning of New Jersey, Jean and Richard Janukowicz of Delaware, Tom and Pat Nuss, Isabell Purdy, Shawn (Becky) Lockhart of Ohio, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins from Ireland. He is also survived by his Masonic brothers, especially Jim (Chris) Huff and Chris Lightner and many other dear friends.

We are sure Bob was met in Heaven by all the great dogs he had throughout the years and is survived by; Dozer, Ozzy, and the recently adopted Rufus.

The family will receive friends and family at the Hummel Funeral Home at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321 Tuesday January 6, 2026 from 5-7pm.

A second visitation will take place Wednesday January 7, 2026 from 11am - noon at the Copley United Methodist Church located at 1518 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Copley, OH 44321. A funeral service will follow at noon with interment after at Copley Cemetery.
