Robert Sullivan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Weeks' Dryer Mortuary - Tacoma on Feb. 12, 2026.
Robert Sullivan, known affectionally to friends and family as "Sully," took his final bow on February 5, 2026. Born on April 24, 1929, in Portland, Oregon, his journey of 96 spirited years was marked by creative endeavors, hearty laughter, and ambitious exploits. A Tacoma, Washington resident for the last two years of his life, Robert's captivating story is one of love, resilience, and a distinct zest for life.

Robert's career in military logistics allowed him to serve his country with dedication and honor until his retirement in 1968. An individual of remarkable character, Sully's dynamic personality was always at the forefront of his interactions. His sense of humor was as infectious as his love for life, often leaving everyone around him in fits of laughter. However, beneath his funny exterior, Robert held a deep love for his family and friends. His late wife, Ilse Sullivan, remained the center of his world, her memory becoming his cherished companion in solitude. His rose bushes were a testament to his enduring love for Ilse and the outdoors.

In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." This quote perfectly encapsulates Robert's relationship with his daughter Sharon Henry, who he fondly referred to as his "little pain in the butt". The bond extended to Sharon's husband, William Henry, their shared laughter adding warmth to Robert's life. The stories of his grandchildren, Jeremy and Brandy Grayson, brought him immense joy. His brother Johnny, his friends Mike, Karen, and Rosemary were pillars of support and love in his life. His parents, James and Henrietta Sullivan, preceded him in his journey beyond the veil.

As we remember Robert, we encourage you to share your memories of him, your stories, and your photos on his memorial page. Let's celebrate Sully's life, his unique qualities, and his accomplishments. Let's remember him as the spirited, creative, funny, and ambitious man he was. He may have taken his final bow, but his laughter, his love, and his legacy will forever echo in our hearts.
