Robert Summy Obituary
Bob was born September 24, 1926, in Council Bluffs to the late Guy G. and Ora (Mackland) Summy. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1944. Robert married Janice Prentice on February 14, 1949. Bob was a lifetime farmer and was named the Council Bluffs JayCees Outstanding Young Farmer in 1958. He was a member of Hazel Dell United Methodist Church, where he served as board chairman and trustee. In addition he had served as Farm Bureau County president; Wespott Hybrid Seed president; on the ASCS County Committee for 25 years; Pottawattamie County Zoning Board for 10 years; Excelsior Masonic Lodge; York Rite Bodies; Tangier Shrine; and Optimist Club.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret (Tallman) Summy in 1947; and son, Robert F. Summy in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice Summy of Crescent; daughter, Cindy Worth and husband Randy of Omaha; sons, Marty Summy and wife Rachel of Crescent, Kelly Summy and wife Inez of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Janelle Summy, Erin Houk and husband Jim, Sarah Tillges and husband Mike, Kathy Summy, Janet Summy, Luke Worth and wife Emily, Lacey Worth, Lance Worth, Tara Summy, Amanda Summy, and Evan Summy, 5 great grandchildren; and sister, EleNore Tallman of Urbandale, Iowa.
Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Thursday, 1 p.m. at the mortuary with Rev. Jim Newman, pastor of Hazel Dell United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Hazel Dell Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Hazel Dell Church. Memorials to the church or Pottawattamie County Community Foundation, 536 East Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503.

Dear Janice and Family,
I just found out last night about Bob's passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you.
Janice, you and Bob were always there for every important event in our lives, and we are so grateful to you. We have wonderful memories.
Shirley Adams and I were just talking about our MYF group in high school with Marty and Cindy. Seems like yesterday, but it was so long ago.

Dear Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Bob was a very special person who left a great legacy for the world through his family. I visited with him recently at the rehab center and he always displayed that warm and gentle smile that was a part of him. I didn't know that Bob was sick.I remember driving his old Ford tractor,picking up loose hay with hayrack and loader ,and Bob and my dad,stacking on the rack.
